XVIII International Festival «Open Europe – Open Planet»

The “Open Europe — Open Planet” Moscow International Festival-Competition of Children’s and Youth Artistic Creativity has once again taken place in Moscow with the support of our company. Over its 18-year existence, more than 46 thousand children from Russia and abroad have taken part in the festival’s events.

This year, the festival, organised in strict accordance with the recommendations of Rospotrebnadzor (Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) in terms of compliance with measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, managed to bring together almost 800 participants who were able to come to Moscow and compete for prizes in person. Those who could not personally participate in the festival and participants of the ‘Equal Opportunities’ annual charity programme competed online. This programme is one of the most important parts of the ‘Open Europe — Open Planet’ festival, distinguishing it from other similar events.

The festival, which was attended by creative groups and performers aged 5 to 25, was divided as usual into the following categories: Choreography, Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, Show Programmes, Art of Declamation, Fine and Applied Arts. Participants from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Latvia, Uzbekistan, Spain, Macedonia, and China performed at the competition venues to impress a professional international jury.

The gala concert and awards ceremony was held at the ‘Cosmos’ Moscow Concert Hall, where the festival-competition’s brightest and most extraordinary winners performed on the big stage. 13 performers and art groups won the Grand Prix. In addition, a large number of participants received laureate diplomas.

In accordance with an already well-established tradition, a prize was awarded to the youngest participant of the festival on behalf of the general trustee — Gazprom Export LLC.
