North Macedonia

The cooperation with North Macedonia in the gas sector began in 1991 with signing of a contract with Makpetrol A.D. for the construction of a gas trunkline and branches in the country on general contracting terms. Construction of the pipeline was completed in 1997, and Russian gas supplies began.

Natural gas supply is covered by annually concluded contracts with the Makpertrol A.D. company; and by the short-term agreements with TE-TO A.D. Skopje for gas supplies to the power plant of the same name.

Total supplies of Russian gas to North Macedonia since their start amount to more than 2 bcm. In 2020, the deliveries amounted to 137,3 mcm. Besides, Gazprom Export's subsidiary Gazprom Schweiz supplied 201.5 mcm to North Macedonia under direct contracts.
