Moscow Soloists, the only Russian chamber orchestra that has won a Grammy award, gave a concert in the capital of Austria during its tour in Europe.

It was the first time antique instruments from Russia’s State Collection of Unique Music Instruments were played outside Russia.
The collection is the world’s largest state collection of string instruments belonging to different epochs.

The Austrian public heard the priceless violins and violas created by the famous masters Stradivari, Guarneri del Gesu and Amati on March 18 in the Great Hall of the Vienna Musikverein philharmonic society.

The leading soloists were the Austrian violinist, violist and conductor Yulian Rakhlin and the famous Russian violist, professor of the Moscow Conservatory Yuri Bashmet, who follows a strict artistic credo: “There must be a miracle, some magic, even for few seconds, in each concert. This is the credo of a true musician”.
Moscow Soloists offered Austrian music lovers a well-planned concert program performing Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Max Bruch and Bela Bartok.

The concert was sponsored by Gazprom Export LLC and OMV Austrian gas concern. “It is a special pleasure for us that in cooperation with OMV, our long-standing and reliable partner, we have a chance today to present to the public the best of Russia’s music world”, said Gazprom Export LLC Director General Alexander Medvedev in his welcome speech to the concert participants.
On Saturday, March 19, the Moscow Soloists Orchestra also gave a charity concert for children. Nearly 200 spectators, children from social institutions Ich bin O.K., Kinderdörfer, Interface and pupils of music schools among them, had a chance to enjoy the sound of the unique instruments in Yamaha Concert Hall.

The charity concert was held within the framework of the Open World international children’s project, organized by the Energy for Life social foundation with the support by Gazprom Export LLC
