The Filling of the First Line of TurkStream with Natural Gas As Part of Commissioning Activities Has Started

Project company South Stream Transport B.V. reported that the filling the first of the two TurkStream offshore pipelines with gas has commenced. This is the final step in the commissioning of the pipelines. Commercial gas flow through TurkStream is planned to start by the end of 2019, as reported by the company.

The gas that was injected into the TurkStream system is delivered through the Gazprom Unified Gas Transmission System. The required pressure to fill the TurkStream system is generated by the Russkaya Compressor Station.

Commissioning works on the offshore part have started after the certification of both strings by the certification body, DNV GL, which confirms that the integrity and properties of the two 32-inch pipelines comply with the technical requirements for Submarine Pipeline Systems of DNV GL and other relevant international standards.

To date, construction activities at the Receiving Terminal are currently in their final stages. Filling the second pipeline with natural gas will start after the filling of the first pipeline is completed, as reported in the press release.
