Gazprom Continues to Increase Gas Supplies to China via Power of Siberia Pipeline

Gazprom continues to increase gas supplies to China via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline from the Chayandinskoye field.

For the first time on 19 October 2020, the daily volume of Russian gas supplies at the request of the Chinese side exceeded the obligations under the contract.

The excess has amounted to 20%.

Background

The Power of Siberia is the largest gas transmission system in Russia’s East. It is aimed to transport gas from the Irkutsk and Yakutia gas production centers to consumers in Russia’s Far East and China.

Deliveries of Russian pipeline gas to China via Power of Siberia started on December 2, 2019.

On May 21, 2014, Gazprom and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) signed the 30-year Sales and Purchase Agreement for Russian gas to be supplied via the eastern route (the Power of Siberia gas pipeline). The document provides for gas deliveries to China in the amount of 38 bcm per year
